Shopping, Shops and markets 

As you might expect, most of the larger chain stores have outlets here in Stratford. Marks and Spencer, Next, Laura Ashley, The White Company etc, all have shops in the town centre. However there remain many small independant shops selling a variety of interesting and unusual items. All tastes and budgets are catered for offering everthing from cards, giftware, and souvenirs to the highest quality jewellery, fine art, and clothing.

Stratford-upon-Avon is now also home to the Maybird Retail Shopping Centre.

 

Stratford is also blessed with regular markets. Every Friday there is a small market in the market square at the top of Wood street. This square is also the venue for the farmers market, which is held on the first Saturday of every month. For the real bargain hunter or market enthusiast there is one of the largest markets in England held at Wellesbourne Airfield every Saturday approximately 15 minutes drive away. Finally, new for 2013 is the Waterside market which offers a wide range of gifts, food, and novelties. This market is open from 10am till 5pm every Sunday throughout the Summer.  

 

Stratford town centre is particularly attractive at Christmas time.Towards the end of November until the New Year, the town takes on a very festive atmosphere with a wonderful display of Christmas lights.It might be a good idea to book a performance at the theatre and do some Christmas shopping at the same.
